The Feminist Summit highly appreciates the positive steps that have been accomplished during the last period regarding the issue of opening roads, by starting to open some roads in a number of governorates, which undoubtedly contribute to meeting the demands of Yemeni women, men and beneficiaries amongst them, and alleviating many of the effects of war, especially facilitating Movement and access to humanitarian aid, with its profound impact on the sick, women, children and other vulnerable groups who have been sick and endured Suffering and deprivation. The Feminist Summit has worked over the past years to monitor the Impact of closing roads and preventing the right to movement and freedom of movement for male and female citizens at all levels, and the resulting violations of human rights have reached to the violation of the right to life, physical and psychological dignity. In addition to the economic rights that road blockage resulted in additional burdens and contributed to the impoverishment of many citizens and their inability to provide sufficient and appropriate food and medicine. At a time when we, at the Feminist Summit, support the opening of both Marib-AlBayda Road, and the lifting of the partial siege on the city of Taiz by opening Al-Hawban Road and Al-Qasr Road, the accompanying scenes of joy for the citizens and the return of many men and women to their homes and reunite with their families, and the restoration of the bonds of social relations between families that had been separated during the war. We stress the necessity of establishing international and regional guarantees and a direct presence from the office of the UN special envoy (OSESGY) in accordance with the Stockholm Agreement in the aspect of opening roads, in order to protect citizens, both male and female during the process of movement on the roads that have been opened, especially with the continuation of military operations and the presence of fighters on the mountains overlooking the roads. , and the possibility of violence erupting that harms civilians and their safety. These guarantees also enhance confidence-building to ensure that the rest of the roads are officially opened and will not be closed again The Feminist Summit affirms that without ensuring adequate protection for civilians during the process of movement on the roads, guaranteeing the right to security, safety and freedom of movement, and respect for human rights and basic freedoms, these steps will be devoid of their content, especially with the increasing allegations of committing various violations, including: intimidation, reprisals against civilians, and arrests in addition to the arbitrary acts or acts of chaos and rioting and causing panic among male and female citizens, or targeting activists and persons of opinion because of their opinions, political positions and development, social and humanitarian activity, besides acts of blackmail and illegal levies. The Feminist Summit also calls on the legitimate, Internationally recognized government to provide the needs and requirements that guarantee smooth security measures consistent with human rights standards and values and Yemen’s international obligations.
